Dr. Jody Chiu, DMD
Dr. Chiu is proud to work with the Chiu Dental team to provide compassionate and community-minded dental care to members of the Kitchener-Waterloo community. With over 13 years of experience, Dr. Chiu is dedicated to helping patients with their oral care needs, and is always looking to enhance the range of services she and the team can provide.
Dr. Chiu’s professional journey began at the University of Waterloo, where she received a BSc in Kinesiology. She went on to pursue dental school at McGill University, completing her DMD in 2010, followed by a hospital-based dentistry residency program at Mount Sinai Hospital through the University of Toronto.
In her time in the field, Dr. Chiu has held permanent associate positions across Canada and the U.S. She has been able to further broaden her experience through her work with First Nations communities in Northern Ontario and as a volunteer dentist in Nicaragua. Dr. Chiu is passionate about building strong relationships with patients, and has worked to establish a broad range of experience to support her service to patients with various needs and in environments requiring different approaches to treatment.
Dr. Chiu is delighted to be practicing in KW with a wonderful team of dental care professionals. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with friends and family, getting busy in her garden, kitchen, and garage, with a very reasonable number of DIY and plant-mom projects always on the go.

Hi I’m Tara! I am a dental hygienist at Chiu Dental with over 10 years of experience. I thoroughly enjoy working in dentistry, helping people improve and maintain their oral health. Getting to know new people and building relationships is the best part of my job!
Outside the clinic, my husband and I enjoy the outdoors and travel, and most weekends we are either catching a quick trip away or camping around the province.

Hi I’m Izabella! I am a dental hygienist here at Chiu Dental. With over 32 years in the dental field, I bring both experience and a lighthearted touch to every patient I meet. My goal is simple: to make people feel comfortable, cared for, and even laugh a little while they’re in the chair with a funny story often at my own expense. I thrive on seeing my patients achieve our collaborative goals for oral health!
When not in the office, I am probably planning my next travel adventure. Just ask me, I’ve probably got an itinerary for your next vacation. A self proclaimed “try anything once” kind of person, I’ve attempted more activities than I’ve mastered. As an empty nester, my two dogs, Cooper and Olive, get all my attention nowadays and keep me constantly entertained.

I am gentle, caring and enthusiastic about promoting life-long dental wellness through education, trust and personalized attention. When I am not working, I am busy with a project around the house, online shopping, visiting local coffee shops, cycling or spending time with friends and family.

Hi, I’m Monica! I am a dental assistant at Chiu Dental and have been in dentistry for over 40 years! I was trained and worked as a dentist back home in Romania and came to raise my family here in Kitchener in 1992. I assisted Dr. Gregory Fichter for over 25 years before Dr. Chiu took over his practice. I love dentistry and enjoy learning about new procedures and materials.
My greatest joy is the connections I form with our patients and the care and comfort I am able to bring while they are in the dental chair. When I am not working, you can find me at home voraciously reading suspense novels or in the kitchen cooking up a storm and trying out new recipes.

Hi I’m Thea! I am a dental assistant at Chiu Dental. I provide comfort and quality assistance to Dr. Chiu and patients in addition to organizing and running our sterilization area. I am also proficient with our digital scanner, designing and milling our custom in-house crowns. This allows me to fulfill the deep passion I have for hands-on laboratory work where creativity and precision is needed.
Outside of the office, you’ll see me explore small towns around! I like to support local shops and cafes that are charming and full of character.
